Get your library ready now for the all new show called "Books Ahoy!", a Captain Corbin pirate presentation. This show tells the children about the Magic of books and that reading can be a treasure! It is a very funny show filled with magic, audience participation and volunteer use.

During this show, Captain Corbin gives the children his 10 BOOK READING CHALLENGE. Besides all the amazing magic, the Captain Challenges the children to read 10 books during the remainder of the summer. A book list is provided to every child to track their progress. There are no time limits or restrictions on the books, so every child can get involved in the reading challenge regardless of their age or reading ability. At the end of the summer (or at your convenience) a draw is held out of all the children who read all ten books, and the winner receives a treasure chest full of loot and pirate novelties! The loot filled chest is left with the library during the show, to encourage the children to participate and to allow each library the convenience of holding the draw when they wish.

This show was extremely well received during march break. With magic books, bookworms, reading treasures, library challenges and more this show is going to cause alot of excitement! There is alot of emphasis placed on taking care of books, returning books and using the libraries and librarians as resources and of course every child is encouraged to start the challenge immediately after the show by borrowing their first book!
